Usually, the best finds on the internet are fortuitous - you search for something, and a completely unrelated (but valuable) resource comes up. I was once again on the receiving end of this today. While searching information about PDFs, I stumbled upon PDF for Lawyers. And the post I found mentioned something rather interesting.

How would you like it if you could just call a place, dictate a message to your phone, and receive a transcription in your inbox? That’s exactly what jott.com is. Well, plus contact management, jotting messages to friends, etc..

And, best of all, it’s completely free - at least during the beta. So far, it’s working wonderfully. I’m seriously considering abandoning my Moleskin. Try it out, and let me know what you think!

Cool find! I heard about a similar service on NPR.org today called SimulScribe which did a great job in transcribing Neal Conan’s message and only had a slight hiccup when he said something in Spanish (although it wasn’t able to transcribe a heavy Boston accent). Unfortunately, it’s not free like jott.com is.

Meh. Hipster PDA and a biro in my pocket does me fine.

Heh - the problem is that my writing is horrible. It’s so bad that it has a half-life - after about 6 hours I can only read half of what I wrote myself ;)

So if any of you guys has great ideas on “fixing” my handwriting, let’s hear it!
